    Selected Topics in System Security

  1. Grading

The mark is composed from three ingredients:

    1. Exercise sheet submissions (max. 45 points): each exercise scores a number of points as told on the exercise sheet. Submissions must be done through Moodle (email submissions are automatically rejected, unless Moodle has verifiably been unavailable) until the sharp deadline as indicated on the exercise sheet. Use the "Kreuzelliste" in ZEUS to indicate which solutions have been submitted.
      • Attendance is compulsory at the practical (KV) class
      • To get a positive mark, you must score at least 23 points (> 50%) out of 45 on the submission of exercises.
    2. Talk (max. 30 points): Each student will give a presentation on a topic of her/his own choice during the semester. The choice must be made in Moodle until the deadline as indicated. The assessment criteria for the talk are:
      • Content: completeness, consistency, comprehensiveness, ...
      • Slide design: typos, figures (make sure to use vector image formats for scalability), ...
      • Style of your presentation: speak to the audience, don't just read your slides, ...
      • Duration: the talk should not be substantially longer or shorter than the defined time slot (as indicated in the organizational matters of the LV), including a few minutes minutes for discussion.
    3. Literature survey (max. 15 points): you must prepare a structured list of references divided into sections for: journal articles, books, conference papers, technical reports & standards, websites, and others. For each reference, a short (2-3 line) description of the content and relevance is mandatory. Submit the literature survey together with a bibtex-file and the PDFs of the papers insofar you have them.
Some online libraries to look into specifically for your literature recherche (access often possible via the university, not appearing any order of importance):
The total score of (maximal 90 points) then determines the final mark according to the table below.
